Children’s Arts Advocate Award 2009
On May 2, 2009 Dr. Channing was awarded the Children’s Arts Advocate
Award 2009 by the California PTA. Incoming President, Jo Loss,
presented the award at the California State PTA’s 110th Annual
Convention in San Jose, CA. This is the first presentation of this newly
created award and recognizes the important work Dr. Channing and her
husband, Harry Kullijian are doing. |

Channing, who was recently honored by the CA State
Legislature with a presentation by Governor
Arnold
Schwarzenegger in Sacramento was also presented with the
PTA's highest honor for Advocacy for Arts in Education with the
National PTA Life Achievement Award, on June 23rd. The honor
highlights the work that Channing and and her husband,
Harry
Kullijian, have made through the Dr.

Carol Channing has been honored for her work in arts education,
both by the California state legislature and by the National
PTA, which gave the actress their Life Achievement Award on
Monday, June 23, at the PTA National Convention in San Diego. |

contributions in promoting arts education in California, and
received proclamations of excellence from the California
Legislature, one by California State Governor Schwarzenegger

The sixth annual Tony Awards Party
will be hosted by JoAnne Worley as Carol Channing is presented with the
Julie Harris Lifetime Achievement Award by her friend Walter Cronkite on
behalf of Hollywood’s theatrical community.

The First Lady of Musical Comedy will be adding another honor to her
storied career from The HUMOR Project, Inc., which is the first
organization in the world to focus full-time on the positive power of
humor. More than two million people throughout the United States and
abroad have attended their programs. To celebrate their 50th annual
international program, The HUMOR Project will be launching HUMOR CRUISE
2006, which will sail from Miami to The Bahahahamas from March 31-April
3.

When I first saw Carol Channing, I knew that I was in the
presence of a phenomenon. Indeed I did not so much see her as
amazedly behold her, for which, to this day, I am beholden to her.
The occasion was a 1948 revue, Lend an Ear, and when she came on, I
was ready to lend her both ears, both eyes, and whatever other parts
she might have claimed.

Receives Lifetime Achievement Award at Singers Forum Benefit Gala on
May 15
Celebrities to Attend Fundraiser for Youth
Singers Forum recently announced a
limited number of tickets still available for its annual fundraising
event, The 2006 Andy Anselmo Achievement Awards. Jeffrey M. Priore,
Singers Forum Foundation Managing Director, had previously announced
that Carol Channing would be among the honorees for the Foundation’s
9th annual Andy Anselmo Achievement Awards.

Theatre Wing to Honor Channing, Jones & Tune, June 4
The American Theatre Wing
will honor Carol Channing, James Earl Jones and Tommy Tune at its
Annual Spring Gala on Monday, June 4, 2007.
The
event will take place at Cipriani 42nd Street with a cocktail
reception at 6:30 p.m. and dinner at 7:30 p.m. Proceeds from the
event benefit the American Theatre Wing's continuing efforts in
support of theatrical education and excellence.
